Asia mall project - Young Superhero Designs

A while ago, I worked on a freelance job with Calvin, an FYP groupmate of mine. We were asked to design 4 characters based on some Asia mall shopping malls in Singapore. They're supposed to be the 'mascots' of each mall, with a Superhero Christmas theme in general.

After some pre-design research and discussion, I focused more on the female superheroes while Calvin designed the male ones. The character attributes came from the malls' respective descriptions and their functions to the community. We were asked to reference heavily on Teen Titans for the concept.

Hougang mall, for example, is the community mall catering to a broad range of customers and necessities. Century Square is the ladies mall with its focus on fashion, wellness and beauty.

'In the Library' Animation Layouts

These are the animation layouts I've done for a 3-min animated film called 'In the Library' during an Animation Seminar workshop a year back. It is a team of 3, and the animation for this film is done. It is currently in the post-production phase.

Story:
Pip the boy meets a mischievous pranking ladder in the library. The old librarian granny is scary, silence is broken...and chaos ensue.

Sort of History-inspired characters

Western and Asian Art History modules
+ all the discussions about Renaissance, Greek sculptures, Gothic Art and Orientalism
+ my own obsessive fascination with fantasy, medieval periods and ancient civilisations

...and THIS.

I would love to design fantasy game characters! \o/

'A Cloudy Conundrum' Creatures =B

The pre-production research and exploration phase of this project gave birth to tons of absurd, weird and ugly-fascinating creature designs.

As we pondered upon what beings might live up in the sky on clouds, each of us attempted our own take on the creatures we named 'Smores'.

Which (as we found out way later when wiki-ing) was an amazing coincidental reference to real-life s'mores - a dessert with a roasted marshmallow and a layer of chocolate sandwiched between two pieces of graham crackers.

This is my part.

Prop designs for 'A Cloudy Conundrum'

Some gramophone and spotlight prop designs for our Final Year Project in ADM, 'A Cloudy Conundrum', a 5-minute 2D animated film featuring a city in the sky and an unwanted visitor in the form of a jet pilot.

We referenced heavily on a steampunk-ish era look for the film.

The Tortoise Prince and his Hare

Black/White illustration

Just a fun little idea of a Mr. Prince Tortoise and his little Hare-y sidekick (mini-sized) roaming the lands and having little adventures of their own.

Save the pen!! =(

This illustration (drawn with an inkpen, no pun intended) was done a year back for a friend's campaign poster named 'Save the pen!'

It features a gruesome beheading of a poor fountain pen.

Mr. Abracadabra and His Dumbdog

A simple sketch of the magician and his princely dumbdog.
They are the spazzztastic, mysterious main characters of a circus-themed short story (which still remains undeveloped to this date).
